SCENTER

Privacy Policy

Effective October 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Scenter (“Scenter”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Scenter is operated by Ridwan Mohamed, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. If you have questions, write to scenterapp@gmail.com.

The short version. Scenter has no accounts. Your collection, saved blends, progress and settings stay on your device. If you choose to rate a layering pair, that rating is sent anonymously (see section 4). We do not sell your personal information and we do not show ads or track you across other apps or websites.

1. Information we do not collect

You do not need to create an account, give a name, or provide an email address to use Scenter. We do not ask for your contacts, precise location, photos, microphone or camera.

2. Information stored on your device

To work, the app saves the following on your device. We cannot see it, and it is not sent to us.

This information stays on your device until you delete the app or clear its data. If your device is backed up by Apple iCloud or Google, the backup may include this data under the terms of that provider.

Daily reminder (notifications)

If you turn on the “Scent of the Day” reminder, Scenter asks your permission to send notifications. The reminders are created and scheduled on your device itself and come from the app, not from a server of ours. We do not receive your notification token, and nothing about the reminder is sent to us. You can turn it off in Scenter’s Settings or in your phone’s notification settings at any time.

Share cards

When you tap “Share this layer”, Scenter makes a picture on your device and opens your phone’s share sheet. The picture goes only where you choose to send it. We do not receive it.

3. Information collected when you subscribe

Scenter Plus is an optional paid subscription sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The store processes your payment. We never see or store your card number or billing details. To confirm whether your subscription is active and to let you restore it on a new device, we use a service called RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID generated for you, your purchase and subscription status, and basic technical details such as app version and device type. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

We use this information only to provide and manage your subscription.

4. Information you choose to send us

The app links to external forms for feedback and for requesting a fragrance. If you open a form and submit it, what you type (for example a fragrance name, your message, and your email if you provide one) is collected through Google Forms and is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. We use it to read your feedback, add fragrances, and reply if you asked us to. If you email scenterapp@gmail.com, we keep your message and our reply for as long as needed to help you and to keep a record of support.

Layering Lab ratings (optional). When you tap an answer under a layering result (for example “Too low” or “It worked”), the app sends us an anonymous vote: the two fragrances, your answer, the score you were shown, a few technical tags describing the pair, the app version, the date and time, and a random identifier created when you first opened the app. The identifier is not linked to you, your device, your Apple or Google account, or any account of ours, and it lets us count one vote per person per pair. The vote contains no name, email address, free text, location or contact details. We use votes to see where our layering scores disagree with real experience and to adjust them. Votes are processed by our service providers Cloudflare (to receive them) and Airtable (to store them). If you are offline, votes wait on your device and are sent later. If you do not want to share, do not tap the answers.

5. Information collected automatically

Anonymous usage counts (only if you agree). Scenter asks your permission the first time you use it. If you say yes, it can send simple counts of what is used, for example “finished onboarding”, “added a bottle”, “checked a pair in the Layering Lab”, “finished a lesson”, “viewed the upgrade screen” or “shared a card”, together with a random ID that is not linked to you and the app version. We never include your name, email, what you search for, or what is in your collection. If you say no, nothing is sent. You can change your answer at any time in Settings under Privacy. Scenter does not use advertising or tracking tools. Apple and Google may give us aggregated, anonymous statistics about downloads, crashes and usage through their developer consoles.

Crash reports (only if you agree). If you say yes to the same question, Scenter uses Sentry to send a report when the app crashes or hits an error. A report contains the technical error, the app version, and basic device information such as the phone model and iOS version. It does not include your name, email, IP address, what you search for, or what is in your collection. If you say no, nothing is sent. You can change your answer at any time in Settings under Privacy. If we add anything else in the future, we will update this policy and the information in the store listing before the change takes effect, and only collect what is needed to improve the app.

6. How we use information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

7. Who we share information with

WhoWhy
Apple App Store / Google PlayPayment, subscription management and app distribution.
RevenueCatVerifying and restoring your Scenter Plus subscription.
Google (Forms)Collecting feedback and fragrance requests you submit.
SentryReceiving and storing the crash reports described in this policy, so we can find and fix bugs.
Cloudflare and AirtableReceiving and storing the anonymous Layering Lab votes and anonymous usage counts described in this policy.
Legal and safetyIf required by law or to protect rights, safety or property.
Business transferIf Scenter is sold or merged, information we hold may transfer to the new owner under this policy.

8. Where information is processed

We are based in Canada. Our service providers may process information in other countries, including the United States, where privacy laws can differ from those in your region.

9. How long we keep information

Data on your device stays there until you remove it. Subscription records are kept by the store and RevenueCat for as long as needed to run your subscription and meet legal and tax duties. Anonymous Layering Lab votes are kept for as long as they help us improve the scores. Support emails and form responses are kept for up to 3 years unless we need them longer to resolve a dispute or meet the law, and then deleted.

10. Your choices and rights

Layering Lab votes are anonymous, so we cannot tell which votes are yours and cannot look them up or delete them individually. Removing the app stops any further votes. Because we have no accounts, we usually cannot identify your data from your device without extra information from you. We may ask for details to confirm a request.

11. Children

Scenter is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact scenterapp@gmail.com and we will delete it.

12. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. Your on-device data is protected by your device’s security, so please keep your device locked and updated. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we make material changes, we will change the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app. Using the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
